The NORMAK project

The NORMAK project - Norwegian assistance to the Republic of Macedonia in the field of European Integration and Public Administration Reform - is financed by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is part of the ministry's contribution to stability and Euro-Atlantic integration in the Western Balkans.

The goal is to provide assistance in the field of Public Administration Reform (PAR) and European Integration, and contribute to a well-functioning public administration in order to achieve and fulfill the obligations of membership of the EU and NATO.

The project's partners in Macedonia are the Secretariat for European Affairs, the Secretariat for Legislation and the Ministry of Information Society. The main target groups for the activities are employees of the Macedonian ministries and subordinate agencies.

The NORMAK Project 2009 consists of the following sub-projects:

  • Developing fundamental skills for eGoverment
  • Developing skills for participation in EU
  • Community Programs Improving the translation process
  • Strengthening systems and capacity for law preparation
  • Influencing the EU prior to membership
  • Local capacity building

Developing the public administration and institution building has during recent years been a high priority in the MFA's assistance to the Western Balkans, and Difi, has in this area been a key partner for the MFA.
